Hmmm...Disco II or TLC/LX

Recently I was at someone's house buying some baby stuff and they had a Defender 90, a Defender 110, and a Disco II. She said with with Land Rovers you have to have three to make sure that one of them is running at any particular time.

I've always loved the looks of them, so when I was shopping for my latest truck I checked out a Disco and a couple Range Rovers. They felt chintzy and the ergonomics were weird. It's unfortunate.

I've had multiple LR owners advise me thusly:
- buy a new LR and sell it just before the warranty expires, or
- buy the newest LC you can.

Forgot to add - a friend of mine had a Discovery for years and told me that the CEL ought to be $ signs, each one signifying $800 as it seemed every repair was $800, $1,600, $2,400, etc...

Wow, this is very helpful as I don't have access to carfax, something to think about before I swing by the dealership, which I planned to do today. I spoke to the sales guy on the phone yesterday, pretty much close to what he said. Looks like a well-maintained vehicle (at least on paper) with quite a history...darn owner #1. :)

If I can talk it down to, say, $10k out the door, what do you guys think? My angel side said this might be a good choice, for its price, to experiment this whole off-road desire as a noob; my devil side said just step up and get a newer 200-series so the wife and family can enjoy when I'm not hitting the bad roads alone. Decision decision...

At least Discovery is now out of the picture, I spent too much time reading the bias view here already. :P I'll leave that beautiful British gal in the memory...
