Hello All. This is my first post after many months of browsing so go easy!

I have a 1989 HJ75 troop carrier that has some serious cancer around the windscreen. I removed the windscreen with the intention of repairing on the weekend. The only thing holding the steel together was the window seal.

So i have investigated my options. They are as follows

1. Replace body tub with a new tub of a HZJ75. Their are currently 3 for sale at local wreckers for between $1600-$2000 AUD. Will this be a straight bolt on/off job? My truck has a 2H and i am worried that the firewall shape changed/brake cylinder bolts moved/steering column etc are not the same between the HZJ and the HJ troopys. Can anyone shed any light on this? Does anyone want to give me the heads up on expected issues?

2. Bog/fiberglass it up and hope for the best. I am worried about doing this as is will probably just leak again, and if i ever ended upside down their is not strength in bog!

3. Weld new metal in. I think after we get some steel formed up, weld it in, fair it and paint it would cost as much as a new body to get a good job. I can TIG weld but would need to buy the leads etc. for my machine (works machine is wired in).

So basically my questions is has anyone else dealt with these and could recommend the best solution?

Also if anyone can shed some light on the HZJ/HJ body shell compatibility that would be great!

Thanks a ton in advance!

Body Change

Welcome If you have a lot of rust its easer to change the body. A HZJ will bolt straight on. The diference are , 1 the lay out of pipes on the fire wall, 2 the power stearing fluid container braket. 3 The fuel tank brakets. That is the frount ones that are welded under the floor. Take the one off your tub & fit it to the hzj tub. The fuel tank is a different shape. A HZJ tank wont fit a HJ . That is the onley differences that will worry you.
