Hi People
I have a HZJ78 troop carrier fitted with an aftermarket Safari Turbo.
A couple of weeks ago I had idle issues and can only get the car to idle (at 800) by adjusting the hand throttle.
Then I started to have starting issues. When the motor is warm the car would not start or would take a lot of turns of the key to start it. Then it would sort of sound like it was loosing compresion then start.
I have run a tank directly to the injector pump so I know there is fuel available tot eh pump, I changed the fuel stop solenoid to see if that was the issue. That was okay for a bit, but then it went off again.
I note when it wont start there isnt fuel getting through to the injectors, so I still feel it is linked to the stop solenoid. Is this thing connected to any other solenoids or readers like the oil pressure or something that could be playing up? I have tried to read the wiring diagram with no success.
I dont want to remove the solenoid but may have to try and see if taking out the little stopper makes a difference.... will that cause any issues for a one or two trying type thing other than I will have to use the gear box to kill the car...
I also tried jump starting the car and that works with varied success. Extra cranking power, but there is a new battery in it at the moment.
Any advice on what it could be would be greatly appreciated.
I note this stuff only ever happens when I have holidays and ahve fishing trips planned. Never when I could do with a day off work for no reason other than the car wont run....
Regards
Chris
