Hey all,

I have a hj75 rv troopcarrier. Does the rv mean that the car is compatible / registered for rear bench seats? Cheers

It's a 1989 hj75rv troopcarrier with a 12 ht conversion (originally 2h engine)

Should be troop seat compatible. Look for the 4 attachment points on the rear floor

Pics with and without the hardware

RV doesn't mean anything but they all have the seat mountings. If its an aust model it may have slightly higher trim level.

Have a look at the id tag and see what seating cap it has. RV dont mean much. They have 3 5 6 or 11 seat . If you car has no seat number on the tag then it is an 11 seater.

mine is an europe spec and there is nothing but plain floor, mean nothing to attach a seat...but i would appreciate if someone can take a picture of the area where the seat belt attach on the wall (like if there was a second row seat behind the driver and passenger) Thank.

No bolt holes, nothing?

is it something related to toyota , the sqare metal plate on the "wheel arch" right bottom corner?

thank

I think the 75 series can come with no accomodations for a rear seat, in the EPC there is a part number for a rear floor pan and floor members W/O rear seat. The seat belt for the bench was a shoulder belt and attached to the side of the truck and to the bench seat its self.

As far as the plate on the wheel well, the plate is there for the bench seat if it is installed.

This is some pics of the set up Phrog is talking about.
Legally you need the front seats with it because they tilt forward and swivel to allow passengers to exit vehicle easier.

I'm not sure why the 73/74 series had more room to enter/exit the rear, maybe the seats slid further forward

My guess through jumping in the back of my brothers fj73 to my old lady's vdj78 is the raised floor in the troopy above the fuel tank makes climbing in harder.
I'm sure the vdj doesn't have the swivel seat or extra door handle as the earlier troopys just the front passenger seat slides right the way forward .

Any more info on this elusive slide swivel seat?

The only pic I can find on the internet and it's from the Lost Abound build.

Read the 78s had both the slide/swivel front passenger and the fold and tumble rear. Trying to confirm for a mate to start hunting.

Mine doesn't, granted a Toyota Spain product, so searching for a solution.

A small child could barely squeeze in on either side, since the bottom corner of the seat stops at the base of the B pillar.

Rv models didn't come out till 2000 first one I saw was 04 some had elwctric Windows they had a muster model as well just nicer interior but not a hj75 too old

In the 75 series at least, rp was the utility and rv was the troopy

Could it be that in the '00 and on that RV signified a 5 seat configuration, being a swivel seat LH side to access the rear bench tumbler?

Mate in Oz in the RV business seems to think differently, not recalling any Troopys that had a "slide forward, swivel base".

Where the notion came from:

"The rear seat is very bench-like, however it will allow three adults to travel in reasonable comfort. The front passenger seat can be moved forward and swivels with a one-lever action, to allow access to the rear seat."

http://mynrma.com.au/motoring-servi...a/landcruiser-78-series-troop-carrier-car.htm

Just looking for an elegant, Toyota solution to accessing the rear seats for 73/75....and rear seating options for that matter, for both.

Know I've an oddity in the ToyotaSpain 73, which affords very limited, but even pics of properly functioning seats don't offer much more in the form of rear passenger comfort from an ingress/egress perspective.

sorry to dig up this old thread, but i'm currently trying to convert my 6 forward facing seater into an 8 seater with rear benches.. and my 1HZ-RV model 1994 doesn't have any of the mount points for them.. nothing in the side wall body or floor..

@PhrogsPhorever it looks like you've had to make your own plates also? did you happen to get any measurements on the plate sizes behind say the top seat mounts in your photos, and how you made up the 3 point fixing near the rear barn doors please?

TIA
