Gday all.

does anyone know the torque setting for the hub nut(s) on the front axle of a 1989 HJ75 troopie.

I got me a 54mm box spanner and welded on a plate for a torque wrench.

cheers Tonka

okay peeps.

Is 78Nm 57.5 ft-lb about right?

From the manual (heavy duty).
Probably the same!

Thanks Crusier70.
I think you may have saved me from a big screw up.
Is that the complete instuction for the nut.
Do i fit the locking washer over it after getting the preload right.
do i just hand tighten on the outer nut, then bend the tabs over on the locking washer?

cheers Tonka

no problem, just remember to check the bearings often if you are going offroad...
Under heavy offroad use, strip the knuckle down and replace all the seals if necessary at least once a year, sand water mud always find its way in.
Another thing is, check the rear wheel bearing by jacking it up and pulling the wheel in and out, if it moves you will need new bearings pressed onto the axle shaft, which needs a press ideally.
They wont show movement in any other direction.
