Hj75 2h diesel

Im almost ready to import my 1988 HJ75 Troop carrier from Australia but im wondering about smog requirements. Has anyone ever smogged a diesel in the USA and how hard is it to do or to pass? Also why is everyone talking about how hard or scary it is to import these vehicles. I dont want to ship it and end up not being able to get it off the docks???? Thanks

I heard someone in this forum said about 25 years rule. Which mean u can import 1988HJ75 which is old enough legally. This year is 2013! Cheers!
