I own a 61 series running a 12HT in Oz and have noticed oil migration between gear box and transfer case, has anyone used an aftermarket equalizing pipe between the two with any sucsess?? rather than pull yhe bugger down. This vehicle also gets stuck in 3rd but releases after a second clutch throw, yes it is running correct spec oil.

That happens all the time with the H55 and split case. You can run an equalizing hose. Head hown to a hydraulic supplier and get a couple of elbows which can be tightened up using a nut in order to direct the outlet the correct direction, a couple of hose barbs and length of hose.
I just fixed mine but the tranny was out for the clutch at the time. I'm saving my crossover for the next time it leaks through.

It's not that hard to remove the back half of a split case to replace that seal.. although the eq line between them is much easier. I've had that seal go on a trip and I lost the tcase due to lack of lube. Not to mention it trashed the tranny output shaft as well. Now all my cruisers have a back up eq line for safe measure.

That's a coincident! My brother in law came over from Oz this week; he's a (retired) mechanic and inspected my BJ40. One of the first things he suggested was to install such an equalization pipe to prevent oil leakage from transfer/tranny.
