I have a puzzler...
I bought an Auburn Limited Slip Differential a while ago and brought it and my 87 HJ60 to my mechanic (who knows Diesel Cruisers pretty well from living in Australia). He tore down my diff and got some new bearings for it so they would be new and the parts guy said that the HJ had a different bearing than the gas version of the 60 that was "like the heavy duty axle bearings that came out with the later Cruisers in 91". This all seemed fine as the bearing number matched the one he was replacing.
He then checked the bearing on the Auburn LSD and it was 5mm too large? It is the same size as the one on the HJ, but its definately too large for the diff which is 45mm (and the bearing and factory diff is 50mm). This is the only LSD Auburn makes for the Cruisers and is said to fit. And all my searching here hasnt turned up anything about this.
Does anyone know about this... or a remedy?
Thanks!
