I am in need of a radiator for my hj47 diesel rt hand drive. I can't seem to find anyone who can find one. I am looking for new aftermarket or good used.
Help please.

could yours be recored??

I have been told it is possible but I do not know which radiator is compatible.
What do you mean? Do you have the original rad? If so, you can take it to any rad. repair shop and they will re-core it, giving you a choice of 3, 4, or 5-core. I'd suggest getting a drain valve fitted if yours doesn't have one, and if you contemplate putting power steering in at some future point, the factory pump mounts low on the right of the engine and gets in the way of the lower rad. inlet, so you need to re-angle or move the inlet accordingly. And easy job for hte rad. shop.

Thank you for the help. I took it to a radiator shop and they measured it and couldn't find anything to recore it with. What can I do to help them. What Toyota radiators are compatable for the core. I am not familiar with this so forgive my ignorance. I believe finding the core is the problem.

Well, that's surprises me that the shop couldn't do it. Have you tried another shop?

I do know that the rad for the 2H-equipped 47 is wider than the rads for 3B equipped trucks, but I didn't think that it would be a problem for a rad shop to deal with. Now you have me wondering...

My rad needs doing too, so I'll take it to a local place this coming week and see what they have to say. I hope my experience is different than yours. If you need to get another rad, Ebay.au is the place to go, and I've seen after market rads for sale on there often.

Thank you for the help. I have also looked into aftermarket on ebay.au and I have been thinking about it but I would rather look around town for a radiator shop that is willing to do the research to find the core.

Well, i took my radiator to a local rad shop today (and I live in a small town) and the guy there didn't seem to think there was anything unusual about the 47 rad -nothing which would make it hard to re-core. I'll post up pics when his work is done (though I may not need a re-core in fact - I'll find out soon enough).

1000. is a little bit too much to spend on a radiator. Recore or aftermarket replacement will be about half the price of the aluminum. It is very nice looking though.
Thank you for the help.

I got a recored one from SOR for $250 or so. Mine was beyond salvage so this fit the bill perfectly.
