My first post and many more to go. Firstly a big hello to all you 40 series fanatics out there. I just purchased my HJ47 ute :D and wondering if anybody could please post some photo's of what tools go where on the clips behind the seats in a HJ47 or FJ45 ute. I worked out where the tool bag (held down by rubber band) goes but don't know where the hydralic jack, metal rods, handle etc go :bang:.

 in advance.

Cant help you with jack/handle locations but that ute belongs in my driveway! That is one sweet rig mate! I'm sure your many questions will be answered on this site. Welcome! and how 'bout more pics. and info. on your rig.

Welcome to Mud! X2 on the nice rig, I really like that canvas top, I have been pondering something similar for my 45. Did you make it yourself? These pages are an amazing resource, I know I have learned a ton in the last couple of months. I cant offer much advice on the jack/rod location situation, but good luck, and congrats on the sweet truck!

Cheers!

I'm over the moon with the purchase and reckon it's the best $2,500 I've spent. The canvas top is made by a company in Australia and the sides and back are zipped and roll up. 388k on the clock and 2 owners since new. The previous owner (dec.) had the oil changed very 6 months even though it clocked 3000k's in between... talk about meticulous. He repaired some rust (hence the primer) so now I'm tossing up whether to do a complete restoration or just give it a tidy up paint job. Here's some more pics of my rig.

Very nice rig, and welcome to mud :flipoff2: You'll enjoy this forum - very well run and the most helpful folks you're likely to find!

Just on the question of restore now or later - it's very much a personal situation thing - but it is worth thinking about driving her for a while before you jump into a restore. That way you can figure out what needs to be done, what you'd like to do, and you can collect the bits and fix up other bits over time. Some parts can be hard to find and others can be expensive. And the general advice on here is - double your budget and you may be close :bang:

Congrats on the ute

Cheers Gary, I'm taking on your advice and going with the fix as I go. There's lot's to do that will keep me busy over numerous weekends. Fix tacho, oil pressure gauge, replace all filters, change all oils, radiator and coolant flush, rebuild brakes, flush brake lines and make adjustments...the list goes on and on. There's some things that I've found disconnected so it will be interesting working out what's original and supposed to be here and what is not.
