Hi, can anyone help. My 1978 HJ45 won't start. While driving the other day it seemed to run out of fuel, but the tank is full. Checked fuel and it was contaminated so I drained it and still no joy. Any ideas. Thanks

You need to replace your fuel filter and bleed the air/gunk out (see FSM) of your fuel/diesel lines to ensure you have clean fresh fuel right to your injectors.

Have you done that?

And if your fuel is contaminated with bacteria you need to kill it off with additives. (A single flush is usually not enough by itself.)

I assume you have an "H" diesel so there should be a "hand plunger" just aft and below the fuel filter. After the fuel filter is changed you can take the small bolt out of the top of the fuel filter and pump the hand plunger until fuel comes out of the top of the filter housing. Pump fuel until you are confident the filter is full.
Lock the plunger back in place before you tighten the bolt on the filter housing. Hope that solves your problem. .....1978HJ45

Yeh thanks, got it going. Fuel was contaminated, got the lift pump reconditioned and bleed the system and injector pump. Thanks for your help.
