Hi folks,

When I bought my 1985 Aussie HJ-75 Troopy almost two decades back, there was Hi-Rail gear installed. I'm now restoring it and putting the vehicle back in factory form, and I need to remove a couple frame extensions that were installed to make way for the hydraulics and rail wheels.

Can someone tell me how far the chassis rails should extend past the front of the round-tube cross-member?

For clarity, here are a couple pix...

Thanks for the help!

On my HZJ78, it is 9 cms, so where that weld is in your photo at 9-10 cms is where they have extended it.

And the holes just to the right of that weld are where my bull bar bolts on to.

Simon...

THANK YOU! Just what I needed. I guessed they probably just welded an extension on at that point. But before cutting it off, I thought best to ask. Over here, I can't just "check out the neighbor's" or look in a parking lot.

I have an ARB bull bar and M12000 winch to fit this afternoon, so your quick response it really appreciated.
