G,day all. I'm a new member from Australia :):):) MY Hj60 diesel wagon has developed a fault. it starts cold ok and after short time dies and stops. Can not get fuel to bleed from fuel filter bleed point. I changed primer pump as I thought that was leaking air as it leaked fuel when priming. Check valve below primer appears to be held down with suction.???? when released the primer pump works. all ok for a while up to a whole day but when cold again same thing happens at start up????? pump is clear of debris and all appears in sound condition Wagon has only done 150000 klms since new. any Ideas ??? :frown::frown::frown::frown:

It may not be the fuel. The HJ60 has a low oil pressure cut out. So when you start the engine, if the oil pressure hasn't risen in about 5 seconds, the engine cuts out. Keep an eye on your oil pressure gauge. On most mornings I have to start mine three times before she keeps going. You could try riding the accelerator a little to get rpm and the oil pressure up, but I don't like doing that. I did clean the oil pressure sender terminal connection and the wire, but it didn't make a difference.

Possibly air in the main high pressure fuel lines (to the injectors) somehow? Hook everything back up, crack these lines at the injectors, put a towel over the six of them that will soon be covered in diesel fuel, turn the key to start position for about 20-30 seconds. It will not start, this will simply bleed the air out of those lines. Tighten the lines (not too tight, not too loose). Start the truck. As soon as it catches throttle it to at least 2000-2500 rpms for about 5-10 seconds then iIt should return to a normal idle. Then, check around the injectors for leaks. Use air to blow out any residual fuel (careful for your eyes) and if any develops - even with engine running - crack fuel line again and reseal. Do Not simply retighten, loosen again then tighten until leak is gone...

Hope all this helps and good luck with it. My canadian spec HJ60 had the sedementer / water seperator / filter on the frame. Also had an idiot light on the dash temming me when there was water in it. There has got to be something comperable on your 60 because they all have water seperators I believe...

The only other thing it could be is perhaps the low oil pressure cut off but if no fuel is coming from when you bleed it it makes me think you have a air leak somewhere in the fuel line -- or something clogging it somewhere. But I would check the basics first, might be an actual running problem like air in the HP fuel lines... Hope it helps
