Hi! I have a HJ47 named Penny who is very dear to me, but i have moved to America and now she just sits at my mums house in Australia and only gets started once a year when i go home. I bought it to restor but never got around to it financially. It runs and drives and everything is there, and she goes anywhere! rust is the main issue on the car but if you can weld well it is a pretty easy fix. I want to see it get restored, and would love for someone to ship it to the US. I have imported cars before so could help with that if anyone is interested in buying it. Cant bear to see her sit and rust any longer, and i dont want to sell it to someone who will just run it into the ground....If anyone is interested in Penny i will post some more details. Thanks for looking, Rochelle:cheers:

Nice...how much you asking for?

its an 83, 4spd, i do beleive its the low geared, as she is revs pretty high anywhere above 80km/h, and there is Low gear on the 4wd shifter. Is this correct for the split transfer then?

and she goes anywhere!

A statement as silly as this! And appearing on ih8mud of all places (where people usually talk with at least some technical accuracy)!

Next time you're driving along a winding road through a narrow river gorge ... just look to the right or left and ask yourself "Can my vehicle go up there". (Yours doesn't even have a winch and even if it did the statement would still be stupid.)

When someone is selling a 4x4 and they say things like that I just wonder (usually just to myself but I've had a few beers right now and you must have triggered something in me) - "How much else of their selling speel is bullsh#t too.

And BTW - This isn't the classifieds! (It wouldn't make me angry there!)

And I do like 40-series cruisers, especially diesels but yours has a fresh paint job trying to hide serious rust issues!

If you get it to the US, there will be a lot more interest. There are just too many people trying run scams (not saying that's the case here), but also to give money up for a vehicle that you haven't seen or at least had somebody you know inspect, is tough. I have been wanting a troopy for quite a while, and will get one some day, but I wouldn't pay to import one sight unseen. GL with the sale.

Omg rust!

Look i'm sorry if i offended you lostmarbles, I was being honest in my post and i just wanted some feedback on whether it would be of interest to anyone over here.
You all know where a vehicle like this can and cant go, i was generalizing with the 'anywhere' comment geez! but i should have thought about it more- anywhere on here literally means anywhere......and I'm not trying to cover anything up, it had this paint on it when i bought it years ago, its deep sea trawler paint apparently...and its pretty obvious where and how bad the rust is!
I am an honest person and I will go into detail about every bit of the car if someone was interested in it,

Sorry i didn't post it in the right place, i am far from trying to scam anyone i just want to see my troopie go to a good home. If i could afford to ship it to the US i would, but then again if i could afford to not sell it i would keep it.
Pardon my lack of technical accuracy, and thanks for the feedback everyone.
Rochelle

No worries! thanks for posting.. Welcome to the USA and hope your rig finds a good home..

I understood what anywhere meant. ;)

Looks like Penny has SA rego. Where is she located? I'd be happy to have a look at her for anyone if she is in the Adelaide region. Looks to have a goodly amount of rust on the roof and at the rear, so I'm guessing she is either from Qld originally or she has spent a lot of time on the beach, no?

I have just found an 83 HJ47 with a 5 speed as well with very little rust for anyone who may be interested.

Cheers,

Josh

Thanks guys, and Josh that is very kind of you to offer. Yeah the most history i have on her is this: she was on the road for about 3 years with the previous owner, i found some photos in a book under the seat with him in them. she was painted white, in the NTdesert and had no rust. Then he took her to tazzie with him, drove her there for about 2 years on the coast, then moved to the Yorke peninsula in SA where she probably got most of her rust as the place was right on the beach and she was there for 3 years being driven.
Yeah, definitely some rust but not unfixable, the frame and underside is all in good shape.
