Hitachi HT-18 turbo on a 1HZ ?

Hi, I have a 2005 hzj79 cruiser with the 1hz engine and I am considering buying a second hand turbo kit off a bloke that consists of a hitachi HT-18 turbo and the other bits and pieces. However I cannot find anyone who has fitted this turbo to a 1HZ, there's plenty on Nissan TD 42's, would this work ok on my engine ? Thanks, Andrew.

What are your power goals?
I think there are better alternatives in place.

I only want to run a modest boost of around 10psi to keep temps down and prolong engine life, so I guess this turbo would be ok for that ?

Stock 10lbs.
I would honestly try and find a stock 1HD-T of FT turbo and run that the way it is.
It would be your cheapest option.

If you keep fueling the same, any diesel will run cooler at 15psi than at 10psi. Ive seen a lot of 1hz killed by people thinking that lower boost is better for their engine and then killing them by overfueling.
Im not saying this is going to happen, just sayin that low boost isnt always better. Toyotas CT26. Is good for about 15psi.

If you can get the kit cheap, get an egt gauge and only add enough fuel to match the boost you'll be ok. The Toyota set up is better, but if your keeping it conservative you'll be ok. Have seen a few TD42 turbo kits come up for sale on facebook that use the ht18 so it must have been common in the older kits
