Hino truck and Landcruiser

A buddy from my local Toyota dealer tell my the Hino truck are built at the same place than the Landcruiser... ??



I don't know that... the question is : is there are some part in commun ?

I just whan to know ...

As I understand it Toyota owns Hino. The diesel engines in most of Toyotas vehicles are made by Hino. I dont believe Hino trucks are built in the same local as Toyota vehicles.

some were built by diahatsu( i can't remember if it's all 3B's or most) and some were built by Hino there should be an identifying stamp on the block-d for diahatsu .... i remember checking mine for a d i think

David there is not much in common between Hino and Landcruiser parts.
Mainly because the Hino is much bigger,however the Dyna/Coaster share some engines such as the B and H range of diesels.The current model coaster is using 1hz and 1hd ft.
They use gearboxes which are similar to H55f calld a H50 but they have shift mechanisms designed for cab over operation which enter from the side of the top cover.
They also have gearboxes which are like hilux gearboxes but again not compatable to cruisers.
The Dyna diff centres maybe interchangeable as I heard someone had already done it .
The brakes share some compatabilty also.You maybe able to use a 40 series master cyl on a dyna made in the 80s.

There is lots of small parts such as dash components ,interior trim,electrical relays ,window winders that would probably swap over.
The dash gauges look the same.

The components on the Dyna are all made by the same companies that build landcruiser and the body is made by Arakawa like landcruiser ,but whether or not its made at the same plant I dont know.

The older petrol dynas used the same motors as Stouts and early hilux.

Diahatsu seem to have left the truck market in oz but for many years they made dyna clones in the 2T range although they did not necessarily have parts compatability.
When I tried to fit the rear dual cab diahatsu seat into my dual cab dyna I discovered they had drilled the mounting holes differently,presumably to stop part swapping.

I thought Diahatsu built the B series engines?

That's the rumor but I've never seen one. The Diahatsu version is supposed to have a "D" stamped in the timing cover.
The shape of the "B" series head is s dead givaway that Toyota and Hino have a common ancestry. I'd like to know if the exhaust manifold from a 3.9 litre Hino will bolt up to a 3B head.
