So last weekend I replaced my failed brake booster with a 80 mini truck booster. I went from no power brakes with the old booster to way too power brakes with the hilux booster. The brakes were very sensitive/touchy. I searched this site and found others had the same issue with the hilux booster but I could not find where anyone had solved the problem.
I searched the internet and found a thread on a Zcar forum related to the reaction disc falling out of place in the bendix booster. So I took my booster back off and shook it. Guess what, the reaction disc was rattling around in there. Took the retaining washer off and removed the push rod and seal. The black disc is the reaction disc and it should be stuck to the back of the push rod. I stuck it back on using a bit of tacky gasket adhesive, put it back together and it works perfectly.
I'm running a FJ60 MC, 80 hilux booster, fj40 front discs and 81 rear drums. No proportioning valve.
