I'm probably going to do a bad job explaining how this goes down, but let me give it a go.... I tried the search, but not sure what terms to even use?

At highway speeds, somewhere between 70 and 80 mph the car seems to cut out an lose power briefly. Just really quick, then gets back at it. No CEL and no codes stored. It's almost feels like it pauses for a quick second then gets back at it

Seems worse when traveling at that speed against the wind. Maybe it's the greater load on the engine?

Had my local shop look at it and they thought it was the MAF, so the cleaned it up. Then it came back and was more apparent. They didn't think it was a coil pack issue because it was a smooth miss and not an abrupt skip. (No idea on this- can't say I know what a failed coil pack would feel like). They also had scan tool on it when it happened and didn't see anything.

So, I'm at a loss. Kinda reminds me of my old 1980 vw rabbit that did the same thing.. Turned out to be bad gaskets around the fuel injectors and they would suck in air when there was a greater vacuum

I have 8 of the cheap coil packs I just ordered. Should I toss those in?

Any advice, regardless of how crazy, is appreciated!
