We just got a 2006 and love it, however we are noticing that the brakes require quite a bit more pressure to provide proper braking than my 80. There isn't excessive pedal travel, it just feels like you really have to stand on them to get braking. Almost like half-power brakes instead of full-power. Anyone run into this and is it a common issue or should I troubleshoot the booster? Some threads I was reading mentioned similar issues could arise from glazed or non-standard pads? I haven't tore into the brakes yet so I don't know how they look, but the truck seems to have been Toyota-only serviced, so I'm assuming they are OEM.

air could be in the lines; how does the master cylinder look?
worn pads usually put off a sound that is a clear signal

^ I'd recommend changing the fluid if it hasn't been done. When it goes bad, you can definitely feel it. It's possible the rotors and pads are glazed, which would basically require the labor for a brake job.

OK, I'll check out the quality of the fluid and pad glazing. I don't think it is air in the lines as I don't have a spongy feel - brakes grab instantly it just requires high pedal effort, almost like the assist is weakened.

I recently bought 2006 LC last month also n my brakes feel like what u mentioned. I feel i have to press on brakes alittle harder for it to bite but brakes r good though. I thought LC just weighs alot therefore brakes works alittle harder. This is my first 100 so i cant compare with other LC i just thought they were like this since its almost 10 years old vehicle. I will get a brake job when pads r worn so i can compare it
