Suggestions on how to entertain myself for 8 hours tomorrow while in Hickory? Will be downtown - ish but have two feet, a dog and a book. Any nice spots worth checking out?

olde hickory brewery could easily eat up 8 hours.... more if you are drinking there all 8 hours ;)

I'm gonna need another book and somewhere to sleep if that's the case.

I'll stop by for a beer at least, though.

Bud Built is right up the road. Great guy that builds some cool stuff.

So I should just go in and yell at him?

Uh, no.

But seriously I'll walk around and check it out.

  • The old depot Old Hickory Station has a big tap list - it is owned by Old Hickory - good restaurant too. Has other beers as well.
  • Walk downtown - some cool shops
  • The Hickory Museum of Art is close, it has one of the nicest collections of folk art in the Southeast upstairs - cool place.

Thanks! I just grabbed coffee and am about to explore, I will check all of that out.

I found puntastic Pho place, I need nothing else

Pho its good fu you..... I love Pho, could never find good stuff or any stuff in Charlotte (although my sister tells me that a bunch of good asian eateries have opened since I moved)... now I can't walk 10 feet without tripping over a Pho restaurant.

Oysters, Salmon and Pho are the official dishes of Seattle.

Yeah I didn't mind Seattle one bit when I was there. There was this, though, when grabbing the typical southern eats to cook for my homesick friend - I was hollering in the damn store.

There is a few really good soul food places here I hear but haven't tried them not really my stick.... one thing that it is missing is eastern style BBQ. There are some great BBQ places here but most are texas style.

I'll try to remember to take pictures of some of the funnier Pho places here. I've seen a Pho King good place to eat and Pho Kit before.

My favorite place is actually really decently priced and they make their own noodles in house, sooooooo much better its hard to believe unless you try it.
Plus the have the largest bowl of Pho in the world there.

Off 127? I think. I was running the shop trucks through a car wash right there and noticed it.

Here's me! I'm the one on the right.

The dead one.
