hy-steer
Rotw1.webp

Lowtide, thats where I wanted tokeep mine but with the marlinks had to fab a relay rod mount, so its pretty close. Is that stock stabilizer still alive, cause that's cool.

I run 37's without it and must agree that if you steering is set up right that you dont't necessarily need it. marlin sells a kit with weld on frame mount, shock and drag link clamp for $79 http://marlincrawler.com/htm/steering.htm

Do you guys not drive on gravel roads for long distances? The stabilizer is very nice on those washboard roads. Hitting pot holes and all.

I would not run all these logging roads with out it. That's why its there.

Yeah, on fire roads the stabilizer is essential, it makes the trip way more enjoyable

I run lots of gravel roads. I run miles and miles of riverbeds. I've run the Alaska Highway and the Cassiar Highway in Cruisers. I don't put stabilizers on any PS conversion that I do. Including the rigs with 40 inch boggers.

If the steering is stock (like under most SOA '60s), I'll leave the factory unit there, but never add another one.

Mark...

so what do you do if you dont have power steering??? i guess thats the main question?

like i said, my 40 had power steering and no stabilizer and it was very reasonable, rarely kicked as long as i knew where my wheels were pointed, but this thing im driving down is goinan give me the surliest lumberjack arms in no time (not that ill complain) i just wouldnt mind ifit was a little less squirrely.

Get Power steering ;)

I have never heard of a FJ60 without powersteering in the US

i got sneaky and picked up a canadian bj60. is that where all the confusion is?

Most of where mine is, yes :D

Take off ya hoser...
