hello all i have been offered a high lift brand jack
the fellow says it has never been used?? looking at
it some time this week he wants $100au and they
are bout $160au new is this resonable??
oh and would a 48inch one be big enough 4 the cruiser
looking at a 2.5 inch lift in the future??

any thoughts would be great

cheers...

Never used, but has it been bolted to a bumper for a couple of years?
The weather is tough on High Lift's, check the price on a service kit before you commit.

I think they call it a Fix-it-kit

48 is OK, 60" is better...

Ask him if it is the black metal one or the red metal one.

The red ones have a cast plate or foot. The black ones have a stamped metal plate. The red ones have a better hook on the top end.

In Tulare County, California, the black 48" ones on sale go for $49.99. The red 48" ones go for $59.99.

I would avoid the 60" Highlift. They are great when used as a recovery device when using as a winch.
The main beam bends enough the way it is. With a 60" it will be worse since you will be jacking a heavy vehicle higher. Jacking up the entire front of a more than stock FJ40 with an 8274 is enough weight to bend the beam on a 48".

They're less than ideal as bumper protectors, btw.

I agree 100%.

Plus purchase a high lift plastic base. Great for use in mud and snow.

I think every fj40 my family ever owned (quite a few) has had that same bend in the front bumper. When I was a kid I probably just though that was how they came :D

Mine to, both of the 40's I've owned had the same bend in the OEM bumper.

For a 40 with a 2.5" lift???

48 is plenty.

maybe, but 60" is clearly more manly...! :D

and I'm not even talking about painting it matching the truck like some folks better left unnamed... :)

seriously, though, I like the extra length for winching etc, plus it's easy enough to cut it if it proves too long...
