Hi-lift jack lever won't stay in up position

I have a brand new hi-lift jack
First use after having it for a couple of months and seem to be struggling.

I try putting lever in up position but keeps dropping down.

Any suggestions?

I know that my hi-lift jacks (both other brands but the mechanism is the same) need to be kept well lubed to function smoothly.

Is the lever supposed to click into position? The lever drops down freely when I lift it

I just got my first hi-lift jack in the mail and it is doing the same thing. Did you ever figure this out? Thanks!

Keep it lubricated and yes, it should click/index into position. You should see a spot on the lever that does this.

Wow, I really didn't believe that could be it given how much it didn't want to go into place, but a thorough drenching in motorcycle chain lube and some work with a wooden block and hammer got it going. Once I got it in the first time it went easy after that. I'm guessing it was just a matter of the powder coating/paint being too thick and/or the mating surfaces being too rough.

It's a great feeling to see it working. Thanks!
