I am in my mid 50s and grew up with the old style jacks. It was all we had back then and I saw many mishaps in my youth.
I'll only use one if I have no other option. That should rarely occur as I have a 12K winch on my 80. The stock 80 series jack is preferable in many situations that do require a jack.

Last time I needed a jack on the trail I ended up using the Toyota OEM jack. It was more convenient to use the small jack instead the Hi-Lift.
