Ok, I know I already did an introduction, but that was really trying to see if I could get some inside info for a LC being sold at a local dealer. Also, some of you may have seen me all other the classifieds as I have been searching for the last two weeks for my new to me Land Cruiser. Let's do this right.

I am now the owner of a Blue Mica w/ Gray leather 2002 Land Cruiser. It has 135,000 miles and does need some basic maintenance plus TB and WP ASAP, since service records were not available and the woman I bought it from was fairly clueless when it came to this type of stuff. The good thing is it had new tires and no body rust, anywhere. The CDL did stick when I test drove. I haven't tried testing that out again.

I bought the Land Cruiser to replace by 2 yr old Subaru Crosstrek XV. It was a great car, but it became clear a family with five kids needs two cars with three rows (our other is an '12 Odyssey). I have always loved Land Cruisers, so this was the only vehicle I looked for that has a third row. I hope to talk my buddy who reads the 80 series threads into some trail riding soon.

It is too dark now to get good pics, so I'll post some soon.

Congrats, if you beat the crap out of your new rig but do the required maintance you should be able to get an additional 500k+ miles out of the beast without any major failures. Don't tell your wife this or you may never be able to justify buying another vehicle. Welcome

Thanks SWUtah. Despite my concerns of not rocking the boat while sitting in my garage I hit the CDL button and heard the it engage. I hit the the button again and it disengaged. It appears to be working fine, thank goodness.

Now it's real because now I have pics. I spent a long time this weekend detailing my new LC. Waxing takes a lot longer than my last vehicle. The LC has a lot of surface area. One question. The roof mount antenna is after market, right? It has an auxiliary Sirius head that I will be removing. I just want to make sure it isn't the stock GPS antenna because this does hav navigation. I doubt it though because this antenna appears in no pics I have seen of other LCs.

Ok, that blob on the top appears to be part of a Kenwood ssr fmp2cx. I am going to remove this, but no manuals are available. I plan to just cut out the pieces and pull. besides power, I don't think the unit is actually connected to anything because it gets to the stereo through FM modulation. I just need to figure out how to seal the windshield where the antenna pokes out.

I dont see how/where the cable goes into the car - but it looks to go in under the plastic list for the windscreen. It could have caused water leak. At least, be very sure before just pulling the cable, that you dont create a new possible water leak/rust possibility.

Yes, that is another reason to get rid of the antenna. I plan to cut the cord up top and pull from the inside. Based on the age of the system this is damn near original and no sign of rust, at all. So hopefully it is sealed. When I pull it do you recommend a certain sealer to make sure no water gets in?
