Several of you saw that HesterSue died on the side of the road on the way to Ames for a club meeting. I had her towed home and began to try and figure out what was wrong. Someone had stopped and said it was not getting fuel in the peep window. That's where I started
Replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump. Checked the fuel sending unit in the tank and made sure the tank wasn't full of sh#t. It was clean which pleased me! Gas was getting up to the carb, but not turning over. It cranked fine. So I thought maybe electrical.
I replaced the plugs, plug wires, rotor cap and button and then opened and looked at the points. Looked like a place broken off, but didn't know what it was supposed to look like. Ordered new stuff from CDan and saw that my points were shot - discolored but also a part broken clean off. Wish I had taken photos! I put the new ones in and it started right up!
Changed the oil and filter and am gonna flush the radiator and put in the new pink stuff from Toyota! She's running great now, other than some sort of oil leak that I can't tell where it's coming from (not the pan or the plug). Anyway, I'm having fun driving her this summer and will begin a frame off this winter I hope.
Looking at selling my Taco and getting a 100 series this weekend so it will be a 2 LC family, which makes me happy!
Looking forward to meeting ya'll later this month.
