Hey everyone,
As you may have read the other posts about my PS pump problems, I have the pics of the s***TY rebuilt pump here. What would cause the shaft to actually disintegrate as it has? I hope that you can see in the pics that the shaft has actually worn a hole in the pump housing, and the shaft is about to fall off. The shiney part in the pic is where the shaft is rubbing on the puimp housing. What a POS rebuilt pump. I can't wait to get my OEM pump!

And the pully and shaft are very loose, so there is no belt tension. So I have no alt at this point. The dealer said they will have my new pump for Friday.

Didn't leak at all??

I would not worry about metal in the box then..

My PS resevoir is leaking like a siv. I now have no PS. It was leaking a small amount when I dropped my 62 off at my F-I-L's shop. I picked up my rig a couple of days ago and I assumed that my F-I-L would have checked the leak and fixed it. I did not have time to really check the rig out before I took it because I had to rescue my mom from Hurricane Alberto. This just happened yesterday so I have not really researched the project yet. The resevoir itself is not leaking. Is the pump under the radiator? It seems like the line is fixed to the frame crossmember under the radiator. I don't know if it is the line (which seems pretty rusty) or the pump? I am new at working on this rig. I would luv any suggestions. How tough is the job? Glad you are getting your OEM pump. Good luck!--CB

Same problem here. I filled the reservoir on monday morning and now i hardly have any fluid left. Are there some quick and easy things to check or do i have to take the pump off completely?

CB: remember you were playing submarine with that rig... possibly you got some water in the system when you submerged your torpedo tubes ... check the fluid in the reservoir and see what it looks like and if anything is actually in there. call F-I-L and tell give him heads up. nice to have a F-I-L who is a mechanic when you own a cruiser... he will prolly volunteer to help you work thru using your car as a boat. make sure to get the fluids in your difs, tranny and transfer case checked / changed as soon as possible or you can donate that thing to the artificial reef foundation of west florida.

Checked the fluids and all seemed well. I was only in water over my axles for about a 25-50 yd stretch so I think I lucked out. Fluid looked clean and the truck is running great. The PS is not functional and a 62 is tough--to say the least--to turn w/o it. There was a leak in the system before I took it to my F-I-L. My theory is that it got worse. None of his guys actually drove it on the road, just around the parking lot. They probably did not notice the leak because they did not raelly use it. Anybody got a rundown on how difficult a job it is to swap everything on the PS system below the resvoir?--CB
