I've got a 96 LX450 that has an interesting issue... The passenger seat won't move forward or backward and it would seem that the issue is it binding on the rails.

When I look under the seat I can see the long bolt turning on the right side (closest to the door) but on the left side it's not moving at all. The motor(s) do seem to work and the recline feature still works fine too. It's just that left side bolt that doesn't turn causing the seat to advance unevenly.

I have one of those cheapo collapsable cupholders installed on the right side of the console that does rub against the left side of the passenger seat when you advance it all the way forward. :hhmm:

Do you guys think the repeated extra strain on the the left side due to the cupholder stripped the gears? Is there a way to fix this without just buying a new seat--that's not really an option due to $$$ and getting married in just a month has my finances locked down even further!

You probably need the new gear and end-caps, both are very cheap and very easy to replace. If you need motor assemblies or such, let me know, I have a donor seat I've been robbing parts from.

Here's the link to the gears and caps.

What he said, I you feel for the cap that should be facing towards the drivers seat, I bet its missing.

wow...identical problem as you except with both seats!

no problem on the driver's side...i'm the only driver and it's stuck as far back as the seat goes.

problem is that the passenger side is stuck as far forward as it can go. nobody can ride in that seat.

until i get the motor problem fixed, is anyone aware of a way that i can manually move the seat back? if i am able to do this, i may consider just leaving it there anyway.

thx

This happened to me a week ago on the passenger side. I pulled the seat to see what was going on. I saw the end cap laying on the floor. I put some thread lock on it and tightened it back down. That's all it took. So far so good. I'll get a new one if it falls back off.

If you pull the seat out, you can unbolt the screw shaft that the seat rides on and move it manually and then put it back in and unplug the harness that controls the seat. If you're going to pull the seat, you might as well fix it as pulling the seat is the hardest part of the job and it's $20. It's a five minute job including pulling the seat out of the truck. Like I posted above, if you do have bad motors or something, which I doubt because I've never heard of it happening, I have an extra parts seat. Good luck.

Same thing just happened to my 97 LX. You can manually move it back, just takes a ratchet on the end of the long screws that move it front/back. Took about 30 sec to get from the furthest forward position moved all the way back. I didn't know about the gears, I guess I had better order some up.

Use the link I posted above. The guy that makes and sells them is a fellow mudder and is easy to work with. The parts are cheap and shipping is fast.
