I'm still having valve chatter or detonation issues. I have replaced the plugs, wires, and now the distributor. I have also checked and adjusted the valves. The motor is fine at idle and only the valves only chatter under a load.
At this point I'm thinking its just a matter of getting the timing and ignition curve right. The new distributor is an MSD E-Curve so it easy to set new curves and timing.
