I've always driven toyota since having my first fj40 at 16. My son just wrecked his 2006 tundra with frame damage, so I am giving him my 2006 tundra and getting a LC or LX. Wife has a 2007 lx470 with 185,000 on it. Just did TB, WP, etc.

Decisions.
Available:
2008 LC200 167,000 $24,000 talked to the mechanic who serviced this. said the gentleman took care of it. Biggest thing they had to do was a (forgive me I am not a mechanic) misfire on 6 and had to rebuild #6. He is a Toyota specialist and said it's rare and it wouldn't bother him if he was buying.

2008 LX 184,000 $29,000. new radiator, always serviced at lexus or toyota, roof rack and cell phone booster.

2011 lx 147,000 $30,900 bought and serviced at wichita lexus dealer, where it was traded in and for sale.

2005 lx470 185,000 $18,000 lived it's whole life in Ohio, but well cared for. I asked for underside pictures, one picture and I sent it to my toyota mechanic and he said "a lot of rust".

I have remote property and have had to lift and put in minimum rear lockers in my vehicles. Can't access in winter at all unless locked and chains on 4 corners which I have always done (I locked both of my tundras Front and rear and put spacers on to get chains on the fronts. Did it with 4r, and two tacomas. My wifes lx470 is bone stock and is only a grocery getter.

If I buy the 2008 LC I will have to put at least 2" lift and rear lockers and use the ATRAC on front since it has the CDL. The LX trucks will not need a lift, as 2-3" with AHC will do, but will need the rear locker.

If I buy the 2005 I'm not sure I trust the broker selling as he told me AHC works and it lived most of its life in UT, which is a lie based on CARFAX.

Seems like if I just go with the newer LX models I will need rear locker and spacers, so it's a wash.

Thanks,

Themud

The conventional wisdom is to buy the lastest model year with the least number of miles you can afford. So I would be looking at the 2011 first.

Thank you.

I would think that, but I have always bought used and have always had to fix things once I put the lifts on like LCAs, ball joints, bearings, rebuild or new CVs. I thought maybe with the LXs, they were made to allow for some movement up or down. Doing it permanently forced the linkages to wear down thus the new parts.

Congratulations!

That was the one I was going to suggest (newest w/fewest miles and AHC), then I saw your most recent post.
