Hello gonna do brakes on my 06 lx470 with my friend who is a mechanic for honda; are the pads the same for lc and the lx? if so does anyone have the part number for the toyota ones? I know toyota suggests repacking the barings for when the front brakes are done but I did mine about 20k miles ago and have not taken any significant trips where the vehicle would have been exposed to water. thanks

Not sure if LX LC are the same but probably are. Call Onur (Beno) at American toyota (1-800-432-6668) and talk to him. Get your parts from him too, even with shipping you won't find a better deal.

Are you planning on turning your rotors? If so I think you have to repack your bearings in the front.

i will give beno a call thanks have to wait for them to open up; i'm on east coast. I thought its only recommended to re pack the bearings?

not sure about the rotors till we pull the wheels off; just trying to get all the ducks in a row before we start. My friend told me he has the special tool to get the hubs (maybe allied something else) off which is toyota only.

Recommended bearing repack is every 30k so if you are in there you might as well reset the clock. I did my fronts and am about to do my rears. Jacque at TRDParts4u in Dallas is in his office at 7:00 am CST so his is available now and should be able to help you. You can search for my recent thread about front brakes and you will find all the info you need to to the entire job. Good luck!

hey gotta did spressmon send you a link for the brakes? I don't have a repair manual

The only tools you need to remove the hubs are a lock ring pliers and a 54mm socket to remove the bearing nut and locknut.

Find a source for anti-rattle springs and clips (Beno or your local Napa store). Check the FAQ's for greasing the inner spindle bearing on each side as long as you're there...Slee makes a cool tool for that.

Pads are common between LX and LC.

by the way does anyone know if the re packing of the bearings is part of the 60k service done at dealerships??

Repack every 30k? Hmm. I am going in for 120k service tomorrow and they didn't mention this. They did offer to change my air filter, clean my MAF and throttle body for an extra $250.

They must have you confused with a Lexus owner.
Obviously they did, which is why I like doing my own work...that and lack of cash flow.;)

Local Lexus dealer is very proud of their work. I've received "estimates", none of which I've gone ahead with.

my friedn wont take money for the job and is gonna mostly watch me do the work and tell me what to do and as a funny item he called a lexus shop and got estimates for the job 900 for front brakes with the re pack, rear is 380, 351 if rotors need to be replaced. wow around $1700

^^^Thats a hell of a deal........for them!
