I posted this over in the 100 series forum but thought I would try this forum as well. I am at work in my truck and I don't know the urgency or cause of the warning light. I've owned my dream truck now for about 4 days and the "Check transmission" light just lit up. I purchased a 1999 Toyota Landcruiser with 77k miles.

I was driving to work this morning in Dallas and the bridges and overpasses were covered in ice. I decided to use the "2nd" button which I assume starts the car in 2nd gear so I don't spin out when taking off from stop lights, etc... Five minutes later the light comes on. I think it's the transmission, it's orange and says "Check" which what appears to be a little picture of a transmission. I don't have the owners manual so I have no idea what triggers this light to come on. Should I be driving immediately to the Toyota dealership?

I can't believe I already have a warning light on...this sucks! Thanks in advance for the help!

Kevin, if your fluid is fine and your shifting fine...I would blame cold weather. This bitter cold does weird things to electronics. My Ipod went out last week as it sat in the car on a cold night. As things warmed up it began working. It may sound silly but I'm convinced this cold snap is to blame on my sudden rattles in my dash. Again, check the fluids, disconnect the battery and reset the light.

I thought the same thing Steve. Unfortunately a trip to the dealer (yes I hate the stealership but I live around the corner from Toyota of Plano) and the culprit was the oxygen sensor. Problem solved for the moment!
