Need some expert advice.
Discovered an RMS leak and what looks like leaky CV boots.
Unfortunately not caught during PPI.
152k.

Toyota dealer says replace both RMS and axles- not reboot. Obviously $$.

In order to check their diagnosis, residual oil was cleaned off and drove for 2 days to better determine source of oil. Pics show current state with new oil drips 2 days after clean. Not actively dripping. Yet.

Not familiar enough w LC CVs to know if I need to do full axles, reboot, or drive as is for now.

Btw PO said he changed to full synthetic recently..

Thoughts on next steps?

Thanks guys.

When I worked in a dealership we never rebooted, just replaced the complete axle, its to do with the warranty. If your having no symptoms of bad cv then just reboot yourself or take it somewhere else.

^ What he said.

I choose to reboot myself - that way I could inspect the bearings, etc. Worst case - you're out the few bucks a boot kit costs, but you gained some peace of mind on if the job really needed to be done or not.
