Ok, my truck is driving me crazy. It has done this odd bucking thing twice on me when coming back from long trips. It gets so bad that sometimes it wont go over 25mph. It runs, bucks violently, kind of dies, catches again, goes, bucks violently... over and over and over. UGH!

The first time it did it, I let it sit over night, next day it was like nothing ever happened. It ran for a month with TONS of miles with no problems. Then it did it again, on the way home. It was awful. Got it home and pulled the top of the Weber off to check the float level. It was off in the closed position but the stroke was about right. I adjusted everything, took it out for a test run and it ran smoother than ever.

Then I pull out on the road after putting say 80mi on it, 50 of which were straight highway miles and boom. There it goes again. It was bad this time, in stretches I couldnt do over 25mph. Killed me.

This is a 22R with Offy and 32/36 Weber. I did adjust the float... and the accelerator pump seems to work. It doesnt matter how long I have driven it, it has happened at the end of a 4hr drive, 1hr drive and 2hr drive. But if I start it up tomorrow it will act like it never happened.

Any ideas on troubleshooting this little thing?

Thanks!

Jason

Fuel Filter....

I'd bet a 6 pack on it

You know, I bet you are right. I didnt even think about it because of how inconsistent it was. I thought under hard acceleration the float was sticking. But after getting it adjusted and checking it out, I dont think so.

Its always the simple things that get me.

I will check that :D

The truck in my avatar was famous for that, It would go 55 in 2nd gear but as soon as I hit third it would buck. Other times it would just do it a couple times and then go away, IMHO it is best to carry two fuel filters and a spare fuel pump whenever driving with the 22R..........

I think that is the only thing that has ever gone wrong..:D

try replacing the distributor.
see if you can have some one loan you one, just to narrow sh!t down w/o spending money.

i had exactly the same symptoms, swapped out distributors with a buddys, no probs to report.

also, have you checked for codes?
I remember code 55 a problem. this site helps me decode the toyota codes.
