New to playing with diff's but been doing lots of research. From earlier help determined the problem to be somewhere in the front diff/drive shaft/cv's/hubs and ruled out the center diff as that is behaving exactly as it should. I pulled the hub covers - splines looked good. So took the next step and removed the cv assemblies. Outside the fact the right side boots were horrible, didn't find any messed up splines or any obvious issues. So pulled the diff, opened the cover expecting to find a mess but everything looked really good. Ring and pinion look like new, spider and side gears don't look worn, and the only "loose" metal shavings I could find was on the inside of the right side gear - but not enough to be a failure point.

So with this explanation so far - I'm fearful i overlooked one thing while inspecting due to my newbie status. I did not verify the right side tulip was fully seated/engaged prior to pulling. Is it possible the whole issue was as simple as it had come out? I know it is kind of a stupid question, but I just can't see anything wrong with the inside of this diff.

On the bright side, I now know how to do these repairs. Since I already have it all pulled, may just go ahead and have the local 4wheel shop install a locker in it.
