blowing the tail light fuse. I have checked the connections and put dielectric grease in all of the bulb fittings, front and back. The only thing I know that is aftermarket is an amp that is in the rear passenger side at the back of the vehicle. All of the other lights work, including the brake lights. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

^agree^ easy check if it is a oem towbar is to unplug the tow bar electric plugs under the rear of the vehicle and reconnect the truck connections together bypassing the tow bar. If that makes sense.

Try this tread for a description of the location of the trailer tow harnesshttps://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2000-lx470-trailer-harness-replacement.788028/

If you completely remove the left rear tail light assembly, the trailer light controller box is usually just stuck to the body panel slightly above where the tail light assembly was. Just follow the wires up and reach in there. The controller is slightly smaller than a deck of cards and has an incoming set and outgoing set of wires that lead to plug connectors. Now that you have found the controller, just follow the wire harness back down and unplug. The incoming wires plug in not too far from the jack. Hope that helps.

Bump, for anyone that can post some pictures so I can get this fixed for my wife. Thanks, Scott
Did you see my post above? It has a link to a pdf. Screen shot from that pdf below - open the pdf, it has more pictures.

Thanks for the screen shot. I did see your reply but for some reason am not able to open up links. So once I unplug the wires, that's it? I don't have to plug them in anywhere else? Thanks again.

Assuming the problem is on the converter box, yes, I think you don't need to plug them anywhere else. Someone else can correct me here? Obviously you want to keep the unplug end dry so you don't short it. I unplug mine at the connector next to the muffler, and replace with new converter box and harness.

O.K., now I am frustrated! There is NO converter box any where near the drivers side tail light as shown in the screen shot above. The only box is directly above the jack and is held in place with a bolt. Any other ideas? Thanks. Scott

Hmm... I dunno where else they would place that, unless someone has removed the Toyota box, replace it with aftermarket box, and hide it somewhere else.

Have you follow the wire from the plug ("FLAT FOUR CONNECTOR" in the screen shot above.)? If you follow the wire it should lead you to the converter box.
