Help Needed with Tach on 95 KZJ71 (1 Viewer)

Did an engine swap from 1KZTE to a Cummins R 2.8. I have all the dash indicators converted over and functioning properly except for the Tachometer. There are 3 wires coming out of the back of the Toyota tach. However, when I connect to the signal wire to the Cummins signal wire I get no movement on the tach. Also tried running through a Dakota Digital SGI-100BT and spent awhile with their tech support but still cannot get the tach to register anything at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try to get my dash done?

Here is a snip from the Cummins R2.8 Installation Guide. I am all for swaping out the tach in my Prado with an alternative but am hoping to keep the dash original. Would there be another Tach out there for example, from a USA 4Runner or Tacoma that I could pillage and replace my Prado guts with that would make this easier?
