i gota check this section more often....

-i want to make this as short as possible- i got fawked every which way but lose when my 2f s*** the bed -little more than a year ago- between the shop keeping my head for MONTHs not days, heading to NM to work for the summer, loading down with classes and work, my cruiser has had zero attention in almost a year. finally got the engine "installed" needed a few final things done like
hook the clutch up
hook the wires up
belts....
hoses...
throttle
-all i can remember now- figured this is easy enough for someone who knows what they are doing saved up took it to the shop
jackass may or may not have taken my head back off... cant get a hold of him now
what i know is that it cost me a lot of $$ another 3 months of not having my cruiser and from what i can tell next to nothing of the above to-do list was accomplished....

anyway i need help.... if anyone could help iv got beer money (not much else) im not asking for a hand out or hoping for a miracle just maybe a :banana: guy to help me straighten all this out (im available some weekends, but between work and class my day light hours are pretty well eaten up, and on an average day i dont even have a shade tree to work under)

Do you have the truck back in your possesion? All the parts?

The todo list looks pretty straightforward, but you're going to need a place to work on it. You are welcome to borrow my transmission jack and I've got a few parts left over from my transmission swap but don't know if any of them will work on a 40.

Do you have any way to transport it out of Tuscaloosa or do you need to find someone in town? What's the name of the shop for future warning.

bell did my head, blamed the "shop in atlanta" that ground my head for it taking so long. and the work was done by a local shop whos primary job is not mechanic work, the owner assured me he could take care of me... shop is no longer open for business of any kind that i am aware of.

except for my battery i think i have everything... i THINK :bang:

i hope i dont need to do anything with the transmission i pulled the entire drivetrain out originally i thought i was just going to replace the whole thing with one a buddy had in his garage but once we got mine out he decided he didnt want to put his in for risk of it not being any better than the one we were removing then we would just be doing all the work over so thats when we removed the head and took it to Bell auto.

as she sits engine tranny and t-case are in the vehicle, bolted in place and driveshafts installed.

i could make arrangements for the cruiser to go to b-ham but would prefer her to stay in town but ill do w/e i can to get her back together. just cant make more hours in a day :crybaby:

I assumed, incorrectly, that when you said you needed to "hook the clutch up" that the transmission was removed. What needs to be installed? Slave Cylinder, Master Cylinder, clutch lines/hoses, fork, all of the above?

Is the head off the engine or not? It should be easy enough to see.

You need to take an hour or two and go over the truck and make a more detailed list of what needs to actually be finished and take a deep breath or ten. You are overwhelmed now, but assuming the head is reinstalled on the engine you are almost there. If you break it up into individual smaller jobs you should be able to get it done pretty easily. ie, instead of thinking in terms of " I don't have time to get this truck running" think "When can I find 15 minutes to install the slave cylinder"

Don't worry about what the other shops did or didn't do for you, there is nothing you can do about that now.

post some pictures if you can't figure out what is installed.

the head is on now... the reason im so worried is b/c reading on mud you cant reuse the same head gasket (if they took the head off im sure they reused the gasket i had installed, and i am more sure they wouldnt have followed the necessary torque specs and order necessary to correctly install the head..... maybe the effects of doing it wrong seem worse than they are?) you are right i need to take a breath... getting what i know out and on paper -screen- helped

i get off at 8 tonight, ill take my flashlight out to the cruiser and see what all i can tell.
what i mean by clutch hooked up is just the linkage from the clutch in the cabin to the actual mechanism in the tranny.

now that i got that out, i need a

I don't see why they would have taken the head off, that would have been a lot of extra work. Why do you think they took it back off?

a 3rd party in the matter says he saw it at the shop with the head off... the guy doing the work was NEVER there when i would stop by never answered or returned phone calls and a 3rd party delivered the cruiser back to my house (trailer)

after several weeks and no word i started blowing up his phone and going by the shop as often as i could finally got word that he took my weber carb to another shop to have it rebuilt the verdict was it was FUBAR and that i needed to buy a new one before he could complete the work luckily i had access to a spare, left that at the shop next message i got was no fire on 2 cyls due to a bent valve, he had done all he could do i should return the head to bell and make them fix it (yea right a year later??? come on)

in the mean time carb gets lost and i have a new starter motor because mine "wouldnt turn over"
