Help!!!! Navigation Out!

Just went over a railroad crossing and the navigation went out. Screen says, "External system not connected". Climate and audio controls work as normal. Any helps greatly appreciated. Oh yea, 2008 with 44000 miles.

Update: Unhooked battery for a few minutes and then replaced. I started the vehicle and the nav worked. Weird.
