I need to replace the fuel line on a 71 1F engine. I thought it was 1/8" pipe thread coming out of the fuel pump and also going into the carb but it doesn't appear to be (won't thread in). Someone told me there's such a thing as metric fuel lines (but no one sells them). Anyone know where I can find a metric fuel line in the Raleigh area?? I've burned like two weeks already just trying to get 4 feet of fuel line run. I see that SOR sells them for $45 so that's an option but I'd like to just get some steel line and bend it myself.

there are two fuel lines left here off the F you are welcome to. They are not the one going from fuel pump to carb though, however if you could use the ends or rebend it to suit your welcome to it.

From what I've read, the fuel pump threads are 1/8'' BSPT vs the standard 1/8'' NPT threads. I still havent found an adapter 1/8 to 1/8'' that changes threads so I can plumb the oil pressure sending unit.

Hey, you dont by chance have the dizzy clamp off the distributor you got from me to make a priming pump do ya? I need that clamp, and something about takin 9mos. to finish a project and finding the little pieces you removed and put somewhere "smart" :D

Jason - yeah man I got that clamp. You in the area this week or you want me to mail it to you?

As far as the fuel line goes - I'll call some hydraulic shops tomorrow and see if they have BSPT - thanks for that little piece of info - at least I have the proper terminology to get the convo started when I call them ;)

Let me know on the dizzy clamp bud.

Thanks for all the info guys - I'm kinda surprised that CarQuest on Millbrook didn't recognize BSPT because I think they make hydraulic hoses there - I might be wrong though. I'll call a hose shop tomorrow and see if anyone can hook me up with steel BSPT lines/fittings.

Mike check with Raleigh Durham Rubber and Gasket off Ebenezer Church Road in Raleigh, they make all our custom lines for us. I have had them even make A/C lines for the Diesel Conversion in the past.

Crimony. No dice. No one has the lines or the fittings around here. I went to Raleigh Durham Rubber and Cross Hose over off Yonkers Rd and they both new right what it was but had nothing that would work. I might just buy a used fuel line off SOR or FJ Parts. Can't believe BSPT is that hard to find.

For the lines I used 5/16th line from da partz store and took a tubing bender to it. That size line and 5/16 brass ball sleeves work great with the carb and pump union nuts. I got a Non-USA carb after I pulled the Weber off my 40 and had to make all the lines from scratch.

The bitch was finding the union nuts for the carb and the fuel pump;) Post up in the wanted section for the union nuts, or contact Mark's Offroad, he might have them and won't bend you over the barrel with shipping like $OR

Here's Coolerman's website that goes into some detain on re-doing your lines

I still havent found an adapter 1/8 to 1/8'' that changes threads so I can plumb the oil pressure sending unit.

Which way you need it to go? Which end male and which end female? I would assume that you want to switch from the 1/8" BPST on the block to a 1/8" NPT Female end for your plumbing, correct?

Well fortunately I still had the male BSPT fitting with an inch of steel line still sticking of out it, so I reused that male fitting on a new 5/16 steel line and got it working for now.

Thanks for the input guys - much appreciated.

Mike
