Gifu, . . . man, it's like we were separated at birth or something. I came to the same LOGICAL conclusion. The world NEEEEDS me to install a H55F.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!! . . . THE CHIIIILLLLLDRENNN!!!!

Ok, . . . ok, . . . I'm fine.

Thanks also for the sales-price examples . . . exactly what I was looking for. Anywhere in the $9 to $13K range will put us in the black no problemo. I'm sold.

Thanks everyone else for the encouragement, contact-information, and justification-support as well.

Regards,

Mica

hey
The H55F is highly sought after by Cruiser heads, but buy putting in the V8 that will turn off a lot of those Cruiserheads. You might as well put in the appropriate trans for the V8 motor, as those who will like the idea of the V8 will probably not care so much about the h55f, plus the Chevy trans will be cheaper I imagine and more readily available. For most people who would be interested in a Cruiser, the V8 is a big turn off and thus decrease the value of the rig. There is of course a smaller population that like this V8 stuff, so the odds of getting the money you stated for the vehicle are slim but not impossible, thus investing in a H55F for profit in this situation is not wise.
That's just my 3 cents

Since your 60 has already been Chevy-fied why not concider a tranny that is better suited for that engine, like an NV4500?

I have driven 2 nearly identical V8J60s, both with the same TBI motor, same tires and same diff gearing. One had an H55F (mine) and the other an NV4500 (freightdog's). For all around use I think the H55 is a better option - quieter, smoother shifting and with ratios that are well matched with tire size and gearing. Yes the NV4500 has a lower granny (almost too low for around town unless offset by extra large tires or tall diffs) and taller overdrive but they end up being too far at the extremes for most driving. I actually chose the toy tranny over new venture after watching the other rig's owner's frustration with a noisey, sloppy brand new unit.

His 60 is one of the VERY nicest I have ever seen and the H55 along with his anal-retentive V8 conversion with all new parts is a beautiful example.
Thanks for the good words, err except the anal retentive part.

Enjoy the snow play today?
