Hello. This is my first post here. I am wondering if you guys can help me identify this trailer. I bought it last May, it is in good working condition but since the day I bought it I have been thinking on replacing the tongue and fenders in order to make it look a little more original. Anyways I am just curious if someone knows what trailer is this.

Here is how the old owner bought it:

I replaced the axle; it was a straight tube axle, no seams in the center.

Here is what I think is the original color (the bottom of the trailer is not painted). its like a light green color

No data plates, I don’t see any stamping anywhere but I can’t look under the left front spring hanger because a previous owner welded some aftermarket hangers. The trailer has the two holes where the side reflectors used to be.

Thank you!

It looks like a Bantam T3-C to me. Mine looks just like it minus the redone tailgate and the AT fenders. Hope that helps.

The top of the T3-C had rounded edges like mine, M100 had the boxed sides.

I stand corrected..... In the first few shots of the original trailer it looks just like mine.......

Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah at first I thought it was the BT3-C but then I started looking at the tailgate (see pic below) and it doesn’t look like a BT3-C. It looks more like someone hacked a MBT or T-3 to make a tailgate. Also it doesn’t have the Stake Pockets. ...I forgot to mention in the description that It has eight leaves in the springs.

If it were a Bantam, it would have had round fenders. It looks like there is an outline of angled fenders in the first two pictures.

True you can see one of the fenders in the first picture but I don’t think they are the original because the trailer still has holes (rust through) from where the original fenders support brackets where located. The outline looks round to me but I dont know if they are in the right location of a bantam round fender.

Hopefully you can see it in this pic

If it was a BT3-C it would only have three hooks on each side. This has four so it was military. The BT3/MBT and M100 were a little narrower than the later M416. Most M100s had a box mounted to the front of the tub on the driver's side. Any signs of mounting holes there?

Nope, no holes in the front for mounting the m100 box.

Can someone tell me the length, width and height of the round fenders from a m100, BT3, or MBT?

Thank you!

My guess is your trailer is a WWII model that's been modified.

It lacks grab handles on the corners. Only WWII and civilian trailers lacked them.

It has four side tie downs. All military trailers had four. Civilian trailers had three.

Civilian trailers have a total of six stake pockets inside the bed walls. Military trailers lack these.

Your trailer's axle has brake drums. Military trailers had parking brakes. Civilian trailers lack them, and only had hubs without brake drums.

Well I finally started working on the trailer. I have been working on it for the last two weeks after work. These are the changes I made:

1. I fixed the rust holes
2. Added a few missing rope hooks
3. New removable square fenders and new 1” lift spring (in order to run spring over axle this way the trailer seats level with the jeep)
4. Added a Willys tailgate stamp that I had seating around my garage for years (I don’t even remember why I bought it).
5. Cut the rear plates that were holding the taillights and added new CJ taillights
6. Removed the ugly tongue and added an m416 casting with leg and lunette with a few 2x3 square tubes, it fits really nice!

Here are a few pics:

Will take better pics this weekend while camping.

Overall I am very happy with the changes I made to the trailers. It’s not done; I still have some more work to do but phase one is near complete. Phase 2 I believe will be making a hard cover for it but I am undecided on how to make it. I want something that it’s lockable, light weight, removable, and about 4-5” tall so I can fit the same amount of gear as I do know with my canvas. Phase III would probably be sandblast the whole thing and get it painted professionally but that wont happened any time soon.

Nice work! Looks sharp, even in the dark!:)

I like working on my trailer vs working on the truck. Usually no pressure to get things done, I can work on it as I'm available, then enjoy the finished product at my leisure. :D

When the prime mover is down, the pressure is on:crybaby:

It does look sharp. Very Nice work!

Thanks guys! ...Well I took it for its first road trip with the new tongue, we went camping this weekend. Let me tell you it was nigh and day the difference on how it handles now. I can’t even tell that I have the trailer back there, it handles very smooth, I am very happy. Even my girlfriend noticed the difference and she wasn't driving the jeep.

She looks like a Bantam T3C 1943 or earlier. Good Luck on the mods she is worth it no matter the condition.
