Ive got two leaks, had them forever. One for oil, one for ATF.\

First pic os the oil, seems to be coming from the seal pictured?

Second is ATF, from the seal for the pan. Any advice on correcting these leaks would be great.

First picture could be a rear main seal or an oil pan seal or both. Second picture is not clear. It could be the pan seal but that is a premature guess. Clean that puppy's underside up and find the source of the leaks.

Gad, is that the inside of your motor/tranny?
Go get a case of carb cleaner and post up later once its clean! Seriously, once its clean you will be able to identify where leaks are coming from.

X2 on the motor cleaning! :eek:That's the easy way to see where are the leaks coming from. Also, a clean engine is a happy engine!:D

sandblaster, pb blaster, brake cleaner, carb cleaner, disk grinder, and maybe an acid wash? Oh, and some . Perhaps the first :wrench::wrench::wrench:engine cleaning!

Hey!!!
Wait a minute...so you mean to tell me after that fresh coat of red paint thats what the motor looks like?
Gentlemen the body of this 62 looks like the exact opposite of those pics!
Get to cleanin brother

Oh and that sor brush guard misses your 62 dearly;)

I need pic's to believe it!

Well I will defend myself here on the engine as I have the engine bay and components pretty darned clean. The undercarriage is bad however. Ive never been good about keeping it clean.

I got her painted, Ive got the interior about as good as I can get without a redo, and new suspension and stabilizer rounded out the summer work. My latest challenge is these leaks. The ATF leak seems to be getting worse and Im concerned.

Heres a pic, need to do a better one but its a decent shot.

Your truck looks great! Have you considered draining tranny fluid, changing filter and pan gasket?

"considered draining tranny fluid, changing filter and pan gasket?"

I have, and Im assuming this is the ATF leak. I think the oil leak is the rear main seal. Law of numbers tells me this is where I should look.

do the oil pan gasket and see if it's still leaking. That will tell you how bad the rear main seal is.

FWIW, I have nearly the same drip as the first pic. I put some of the glow in the dark UV light leak tester stuff in my oil and, sure enough, it seems to be coming from the very front curve of the oil pan gasket. After I fix that, I'll try the same with the tranny fluid but I think in mine it's definitely motor oil. Or at least I hope.. rear main seal scares me.

tracer dye kits are a great investment. only about $50 for the kit.
