So my AC compressor is making a lot of noise. The AC works fine, my guess is the front bearing is dry.

I have searched but come up with nothing about there being a method to replacing the bearings without actually removing the compressor. Anyone have any resources on this? I dont mind being the first, but I cant even get enough info to start.

I'm with you. Can I try greasing the bearing? If so what kind of grease?

Not worth the trouble. When bearings fail, the noise you hear is balls that are no longer round and races that are no longer smooth. Plus, the bearings are sealed. If you've got it open to the point where you can touch the bearing its easy to replace it. The video posted above is exactly how to do it. Not difficult at all, even on the car. You'll need access to a small press or a 6" vice to press off the old and press on the new bearing.

Thanks Duc, it looks like the compressors are different, but i should have enough room to get in there and see if i can get the clutch off like that guy did.

Try to break the clutch bolt free before removing the serp belt. A strap wrench might be required if it wont break easily.

Assuming i get the BMW back together this weekend I will tackle this job and update the thread. I suspect that if i can get the clutch off and get the bearing out, that it will take me a little while to track down the correct bearing.
