Help identify this pipe

My first starter change on 2004 with 210k went ok, except lots of ache body.
I noticed a pipe just below what I think is a coolant temperature sensor. Did I miss a hose connection or is that stay open like that. Thanks

That is another coolant temp sensor - you have two. There should be a wire for that guy (at least there is in a 2000). And good job not crushing those sensors when putting the intake manifold back on.
 
Of course I am referring to the black connector in the middle, but the brass looking tube just below it
 
Yes, if you look closely at it it’s actually plastic on top and slotted for an electrical connector. IIRC the earlier trucks used both (like my 2000) and at some point they only wired one, but still had the other sensor there doing nothing.
 
Ok great. I couldn't find the connector for the bottom... Now no worries. Thank you
