What’s up fellas. I’m pretty new and enjoying my Gx so far. I do have an issue I could use some expert help in. I installed my 5100’s today and the rear went great however the fronts are much taller than than stock. Any help would be great as I’m lost. I’m thinking a different spring maybe but I could be dead wrong.

LOL. Caught ya, though. I see it now.

I don’t see it. What was wrong?

Oh that will do it

How was the ride compared to stock?

Well looks like I have to look into some longer springs. After the shocks settled in, the rear springs just can’t seem to handle the load or maybe stronger shocks. Anyone run into this issue yet?

Which specific springs you used in rear?

Springs handle the load, therefore setting the ride height. The shocks simply slow the rate of movement (damping). If you aren't happy with the load handling or height, choose different springs. My recommendation is to figure out what your ultimate load will be (gear, towing, etc.), then choose the spring accordingly.

Look at OME’s 2895 and 2895E springs. The E are basically the same as the regular but shorter. Nearly identical load handling but 15mm shorter OAL when unsprung. This makes them slightly “stiffer” as well but similar load rating but .5-.75” shorter lifted height (depends on which vendor you purchase as well as normal load).

If it’s load handling you desire look at stiffer springs. If it’s bouncing all over then look at some beefier shocks. If the ride is “too rough” then look for some softer shocks.

Call some of these vendors with your thoughts and complaints of current setup. Many of these companies drive what they sell and if the one on the phone doesn’t I bet he can grab someone in minutes that does.

I’m not that familiar with the FJC rear springs. Maybe someone else who has used these springs can chime in.

I’ve been looking to convert to variable rate rear springs to better handle the gx470 when unloaded and when loaded.

I bought the OME 2895Es and I have them new in a box and trying to sell them since now I want the variable rate ones with about a 1.5” rear lift. I think I can get that with the Dobinson 675V rear springs.

If you haven’t purchased the rear conversion perches yet, the Southern Style Offroad has a slight lift factored in. Something to consider when looking.

I got the MT conversion kit because I don’t want extra height out of the Dobinson 675V springs.
