What did you use to take up the thickness of the brake backing when eliminating them. There is a shoulder on the spindle that won't allow the "seal plate to be bolted flush to the spindle. I hope this makes sense...

I'm trying to get every thing back togethre right now...

Help!

Thanks

I'm assuming u installed the 4 runner calipers?
Just cut the dust shields a little bit to allow them to fit. No real need to completely eliminate them.

No, all FJ60 parts. I'm using longer stainless lines from the axle to the stock caliper. I want to leave the backing plate off. There is a stamped plate with a seal in the rebuild kit that won't bolt up to the spindel without the thickness of the backing plate inbetween it and the face of the spindle. There is a shoulder that locates the backing plate about a .100" "tall".

During a search, I saw Woody's rig without backing plates. It looked like he eliminated the dust shield all together. I'd like to use it, so that the rotor seal is not the only barrier...

Don't really have an answer to your question, but I have a question for you.

How long are your stainless lines that you are using and where did you get them?

well...I ended up cutting the center out of the backing plate. Cleaned up the edges, and installed it in the stack up. Worked out really well. Don't have pictures right now but, easy and effective solution.

The hoses are being made at my brothers shop. They are using the Napa hose for refernce. I think the part # is napa-38881.
