Hello,

I posted a thread on this a few weeks ago and had no responses. I really need some advice from the experts here. I looked through the LC service manual and couldn’t find any leads. Help!

I have a 2001 LC (series 100) with almost 300K miles (yes I've gotten my monies worth).

Recently I noticed a couple of instances where the internal door lock buttons wouldn’t work to either open or lock the doors. The problem was intermittent. About a week ago the lock buttons inside the car stopped working completely. Oddly, the key FOB remote unlocks and locks them just fine.

I haven’t noticed any other odd electrical issues. I have not had a lot of issues with the electrical system but a few years ago I had to have repairs made to the power distribution block. My key was not being recognized and eventually the issue was tracked down to the PDB. The repairs were made and since then things have been fine.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

Thanks as always!

Mark

Mark, do your power seats work fine? Issues like this seem to always point to the body control module. It's a box located behind the radio. Your 2001 might be different from my 98 but that's one place I would look. Windshield ever leak?

Just confirmed. The power seats work fine as do the seat heaters. The windshield has been replaced (about 18 months ago) but I haven't noticed any leaks. I did have my wife mention a couple of drops of water fall on her feet riding as a passenger but that was a while ago and I could never find a source. It doesn't happen often as we routinely drive this vehicle in the rain.

Does doors lock from passenger side? If so, pop the driver side door lock/window switch out and check wire connections on back.

Has been a few reports on the switch panel in drivers door needing cleaning of the switch contacts. (or was it plug pins/connectors?)

thats tough , imho why not replace the handle with a new unit from factory and see if that work?

side note: dripping water on wifey's feet passenger side is your a/c condensor drain clogged or the plastic housing needs silicone. There are some good threads on how to fix that.
