No sound from the front on a Factory H/U... Any thoughts or ideas to trouble shoot on the 98 LX 470. Yes I checked the fade and tried to search ...

Do you have an aftermarket or stock head unit? It could be a loose connection at the harness and less likely at the speaker if both left and right speakers aren't working. The amp built into the head unit can go bad. A lot of aftermarket receivers have one amplifier and then use circuitry to route to multiple speakers. Higher end receivers will have separate amps for each set of speakers. If the radio works then it's not a fuse. Do something happen before they stopped working?

Like dogmarley, I need more info to help much. However, I did find several threads on dead speakers using the search term "no sound speakers". One thread noted that a tweeter had shorted out and all 4 front speakers were out as a result. If yours were working and all 4 fronts suddenly quit, it seems like a good idea to check for a short circuit first.

Yes , sorry Factory head unit , non-Nav . Thanks for the info. I'm not much of an electrical guy so much help is appreciated. Btw , they were in op when I got it...

Bump for any more input ...

Back speakers work? To diagnose you could pull door panel off of front doors and see if there are any loose connections or corrosion. If not, get a multimeter and measure any output from the speaker wires with receiver on and loud. If there is wattage, then your head unit and connection behind it is fine. Or you could pull wire connector off. Use alligator clips and clip to + and - of speaker. Then take the + wire and place it on positive of a small battery. Take (-)wire and tap(quickly then release) it to(-)side of battery. If the speaker works, you should hear a pop every time you tap battery.

If none of the above works, then either your harness is loose or the amp in the receiver is bad. Take receiver out and make sure harness is pushed in all the way. If so, it's a safe bet to say it's your head unit and you need a new one...not sure if that year has a separate amp or not. If it does, just diagnosis the same way.

I hope this isn't too confusing...I'm at work!
