I guess I should introduce myself to this great forum. My name is Brian and I live in the fine state of Oregon. I am new to this forum and to the Land Cruiser. Not so long ago I purchased a 1988 FJ62 with 185,000 miles on it, pictured below.

Picked it up for about 3800 seems like a pretty good deal for my area. After picking it up I found a folder of records in the GB with receipts for a crate motor install at about 130,00 and a tranny rebuild at about 140,000. now it seems like a really good deal. Last owner drove it about 5,000 miles a year for fishing/hunting.

First thing I did after finding this place was to read up on the 60/62 faq to find out that I should buy a FSM for it. Checked with the 800 number and they were 6 weeks out so I started looking around then net for one. Found a great deal on one from an online used book store (abebooks) got the only 1989 FJ 62 FSM they had 13.99 +5.95 s/h.

Being that I am an electrician by trade everything that I touch gets rewired. Started with the dim headlights built the harness and am waiting on the lights. While waiting I decided to build some custom battery cables. In the process of doing a little write up with some pictures and prices but that is for another day.

Just wanted to say hello!

Welcome to the addiction!!!

Nice to have another 62 here with us.

Lookin' very good! Geez, with a new engine and rebuilt tranny it should be good for at least another 20 years. Beware of rust cropping up in those fender wells where the running boards are attached. Those are wild! Also, check the inner rear frame rails for rust and deal with it if present. What size tires are those? Welcome!

Christ on a bike is that thing CLEAN!
What a STEAL!

Welcome!

Nice ride nooby

Wow that seems to be a good deal with the rebuilt engine and trans. Good catch, 2X on watching for rust in the fender area adjacent to the running boards seems to trap water there. Beatiful country where you are and I am waiting for you to start posting all the wonderful scenery in the area when you are out wheeling, that is one of the great things about mud we can wheel all over the country ;even if only via pic from out fellow addicts. Welcome to mud and the LC addiction:flipoff2:
